Once Upon a Time The Stars Sang You Awake At Midnight and Three Mysterious Women wove a magical animal skin for you

Have you ever suspected that folk and fairy tales are more than simple stories? That underneath the evocative images and repeated numbers, there is a secret message lying in wait for you? Have you sensed an entrance into a world, shimmering, right there at the edge of what you can easily see?  

That murmuring hope of your heart is right. 

There is a path into that wondrous world, should you dare to walk it. 

The instructions and spells for walking this path are embedded in these old tales, written in a timeless language that you can still learn today. By learning the beliefs and customs of our pre-modern ancestors who encoded these tales, we come home to our ability to see and practice the spirit communication and magic that was fully integrated into their daily lives. 

Fairy tales move our spirits and slyly introduce us to spirits–ready to guide, challenge, and move us through uncanny initiations. The stories reflect a system of beliefs that encourage us to take our dreams as seriously as we take events in our waking life, reveal we have many doorways to the Otherworlds, show that we can be in deliberate contact with what is hidden, teach that the landscape and its weather are powerful omens if you know how to watch them, and reassure us the strange charms we crafted as children were actually powerful agents of change.

This is a homecoming. To make the journey, we need to walk with one foot in the past and one in the present. Pre-modern beliefs are the key to unlocking the language of spirit work and folk magic. 

But this isn’t just history that we learn. It’s something we do as a living, moving practice. It is enchanting, and it is also wonderfully ordinary. 

You may find yourself surprised with how mundane it can be. This road includes house chores, seasonal decor, noticing the weather, becoming in-sync with the living seasons of your landscape. It is also full of swan feathers, incantations whispered in your ear, gloaming potions; of brilliant dawns after sleepless nights, and gifts of fox skulls and sea shells.

We return to an enchanted cosmology and rooted witchcraft, to a world that responds when we call out, by interacting with it everyday, shapeshifting these practices for our contemporary lives—and feel all the more connected for it.

This is an invitation for the romantically adventurous–those who want a method for interacting, communicating with, and having relationship with spirits and the supernatural with steadfast roots that allow your practice to take surprising shapes.
